At Golioth, we’re a small team of hardware and cloud developers, entrepreneurs and technology innovators and we’re on a mission to build the commercial IoT platform that developers and customers love. With more than a half-century of experience in IoT, we focus on solving the hard problems, reducing friction and accelerating the timeline from idea to pilot to production.

We’re looking for an experienced hardware developer to join our team to meet the engineering needs of our sales and customer success teams. This is an exciting opportunity to join a venture-backed startup in early growth stage, working closely with our RevOps and Developer teams to demonstrate our platform’s capabilities and drive key “wins” for early customers.

Basic required skills

This is where we’ll need your expertise and excellence

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a hardware engineering discipline (Computer Science (Computer), Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Systems or equivalent). 3-5 years of demonstrably relevant experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Great people skills, high EQ, very personable and positive, understands how to approach people to make them feel heard and valued
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Availability to travel on average 1 week (Monday - Friday) per quarter or up to 5 weeks in a calendar year

Bonus skills

You’ll score bonus points for these, or have the opportunity to learn

  • Experience with sensors and microcontrollers especially those from within Golioth’s partner ecosystem, e.g. Nordic, Infineon and NXP
  • Experience dealing with customers on the frontline from a technical perspective; remote and in person troubleshooting with customers is a plus
  • Experience with creative problem solving, e.g. using alternate hardware to develop prototypes and production sensors when supply chains break down
  • Basic coding skills, e.g. comfort with scripting / network API interfaces. Ideally prior experience with C, Python or other coding languages common in IoT
  • Broad experience with sensing applications
  • Experience with complex hardware installation or assembly

Responsibilities

This is what you’ll do on a typical day

Pre-Sales Support

  • Gain a solid understanding of customer workflows and use-case(s), use this to design end to end product demonstrations consisting of both reference hardware and the Golioth Console
  • Demo Golioth platform capabilities to sales qualified leads (SQLs) and early customers
  • Directly support the RevOps team in customer demonstrations, technical evaluations and trial planning
  • Travel both internationally and domestically to attend conferences, meet with leads and customers and support RevOps during evaluations or demos

Early Customer Support

  • Work with new customers to integrate Golioth into their hardware development and production environments, advise on best practices and make recommendations to drive early “wins” with the platform
  • Develop documentation to aid customers in continual support
  • Troubleshoot customer issues, clearly communicate and document technical solutions for customers, file bugs, product requirements and feature enhancements with engineering as appropriate
  • Deliver expert technical support and troubleshooting for early customers in a remote environment

Product Support

  • Work closely with the DevRel team to enhance and maintain Golioth’s library of reference designs
  • Develop and manage custom firmware packages for use in reference designs and customer demos
  • Leverage domain knowledge, customer feedback and key insights to develop new reference designs
  • Support Engineering with testing and feedback on new services and features
  • Provide product feedback based on customer feedback and hands-on experience

Team Support

  • Develop training and reference material for your team and fellow Giants
  • Improve team processes
  • Automate team functions where possible and appropriate
